What is Positive Behaviour Support? Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a proactive and collaborative approach aimed at improving behavior and quality of life for individuals facing challenges like developmental disabilities or behavioral issues. Instead of focusing solely on problem behaviors, PBS identifies underlying causes, prevents triggers, and teaches alternative positive behaviors. By emphasizing reinforcement, individualization, and data analysis, PBS creates tailored strategies that foster a supportive environment, involve caregivers, and promote long-lasting positive change. This approach promotes dignity, respect, and empowerment while minimizing restrictive practices.

Well Life Services provides two tiers of NDIS support coordination available to suit your individual requirements:

What Does Our Positive Behaviour Support Plan Include?

Our customised positive behaviour support plan would include:

  • Client-centred Planning
  • Assessment and Intervention
  • Environment modification
  • Involvement of family and primary caregivers

How does it work?

At Well Life Services we start with an initial consultation and assessments. A behaviour plan with easy-to-understand strategies is then developed. We then implement the plan with the help of the support team and carers, continuously reviewing its success and outcomes. Finally, we report the outcomes and recommendations to ensure the right level of support is ongoing.

How is Behaviour Support funded?Toowoomba

Under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Behaviour Support is funded under Improved Relationships for NDIS managed plans, if you are are plan or self-managed, we may also be able to assist. If you do not have Improved Relationships funding, or enough funding, we may be able to help you write a letter of evidence to NDIS to apply for PBS funding.

You do not have to have NDIS funding to access our behaviour support services. However, there are no Medicare rebates available for behaviour support.

How is Behaviour Support different from therapy?

Therapy is usually provided through regular (for example weekly) one-on-one sessions with a therapist. Behaviour support responds to ongoing situations in a dynamic way and can be proactive as well as reactive and is as timely as the person needs at a given moment (for example it may start as weekly and then become quarterly as needed).

Behaviour support is a set of strategies based on a framework set up by the NDIS to ensure that the person and those around them have a better quality of life. With Behaviour Support, we don't just work with the individual but also with their carers, support team and family.
